New Springwater Corridor from OMSI to Sellwood BridgeDescription:This newly completed trail follows the old rail line along the East bank of the Willamette River. The river diverts around either side of Ross Island and provides beautiful views of Ross Island, the Willamette River, and the West Hills of Portland. Ross Island is a heron rookery. The riverbank is tree laden with deciduous varieties notably maple and alder. When you arrive at Oaks Bottom be sure to stop and view the many species of birds including herons and egrets.

To return you can retrace the directions or Cross the Sellwood Bridge and
follow the Willamette Greenway Trail back to the Hawthorne Bridge.
